DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) - The 18th Annual Street Faire at the Lakes begins this weekend in downtown Detroit Lakes.
The Street Faire at the Lakes is an annual festival of art, craft, music and food in downtown Detroit Lakes held annually the weekend after Memorial Day weekend. This year's festival includes over 130 artists and vendors, free entertainment and kids activities.
Dawn Olson, a member of the planning committee says this year's Street Faire features "a lot of returning vendors and quite a few new vendors and artists - it's a good mix".
The Street Faire at the Lakes began in 2001 with a bit of a wing and a prayer! A group of downtown-loving Detroit Lakes natives came together and dreamed up the idea of having an outdoor art fair. Now in their 18th year, it's become a center piece to Detroit Lakes busy summer schedule of activities and events.
A full list of activities and a map for the Street Faire at the Lakes can be found at their website, http://www.dlstreetfaire.com
