(KNSI) - This weekend is the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources' Take a Kid Fishing Weekend.

The weekend is set aside for kids to learn how to fish, or for kids and adults to try fishing for the first time.

Minnesota residents who bring a child 15 or younger with them can fish without a license from Friday through Sunday.

A normal fishing license for an individual 16 or older is $25.

If you don't have your own equipment, state parks have some you can borrow.

There are 212 fishable lakes in Stearns County, 12 in Benton County and 81 in Sherburne County, so you'll likely be able to find a lake nearby to wet a line.
