THIEF RIVER FALLS, MINN. (KTRF) - A City Council member from Thief River Falls has pleaded guilty to Disorderly Conduct stemming from a knockdown, chair-swinging brawl at a City Council committee meeting last month.
Jerald Brown said his behavior was "alarming or offensive to others," calling the incident a "bad situation that turned worse" when he got into a fight with former council member Josh Hagen.
District Judge Tamera Yon didn't accept the plea, instead fining Brown $100, the cost of prosecution, and ordered a stay in the plea, which would expunge the charge from Brown's record as long as Brown stays out of trouble for the next 6 months.
Brown said he would offer an apology to Hagen and has apologized to those who witnessed the fight.
Hagen is charged with Misdemeanor assault in the incident. He has not yet entered a plea and his hearing has been continued until next Monday.
