Trooper injured, driver airlifted from Lakeville crash

One person has been airlifted from the scene of a Lakeville crash involving a Minnesota State trooper.
The crash happened late Tuesday afternoon on a frontage road off Interstate 35. The Minnesota State Patrol originally reported the trooper was hit "head-on" and "pinned" in the crash. The trooper has since been freed and is being treated for injuries at the scene, according to the state patrol.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2012 Chrysler 200 driven by 29-year-old Paul Briggs, was traveling northbound on I-35 in the right lane at a high speed. It is unknown if he was wearing a seat belt. Briggs was airlifted to North Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.
The trooper is Sgt. Mike Krukowski, 35, of Oakdale. He was transported to HCMC with non-life threatening injuries. He was wearing his seat belt.
The cause of the crash, including whether Briggs was impared, is under investigation.
