BEMIDJI, Minn. (KFGO) - Two people have been arrested in connection with a shooting near Bemidji.

The Beltrami County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were called at around 4 p.m. Friday to a report of shots fired and one person injured in Eckles Township.

Deputies arrested 23-year-old Luiz J.S. Delarosa of Bemidji and David 21-year-old David J. Cook Jr., age 21 of Red Lake. Both men are being held in the Beltrami County Jail pending formal criminal charges.

The victim, 33-year-old Vernon A.J. May of Red Lake, was transported to Sanford in Bemidji and treated for non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

Investigators say the shooting appears to be connected to an ongoing neighborhood dispute.
