Update on Wednesday Night Injury Crash Involving Two Pedestrians in Detroit Lakes

DETROIT LAKES, MN —Authorities in Detroit Lakes have released the names of the individuals involved in a Wednesday night accident on Highway 10 in Detroit Lakes involving two pedestrians being struck by a vehicle. Detroit Lakes Police Chief Steve Todd said today, last night just after 8:30pm pickup traveling westbound in the right lane on Highway 10 struck two pedestrians on the east side of the Washington Avenue intersection. Chief Todd says both pedestrians required medical treatment and were transported to Essentia St. Mary's in Detroit Lakes, then to Essentia in Fargo. The pickup driver was not injured. Chief Todd says the pickup driver, 69 year old Earl Johnson has been very cooperative with police and there is no indication of any impairment with the driver. Chief Todd identified the pedestrians as 54 year old Susan Holmer and 67 year old Steven Lorentzen both of Detroit Lakes. Todd says the circumstances of the crash are still under investigation and it's unknown if any charges will be filed. Assisting the DLPD at the scene Wednesday night were the Becker County Sheriff's Department, Minnesota State Patrol, Detroit Lakes Fire Department and Essentia St. Mary's EMS.
