500 community members from Detroit Lakes and the surrounding area packed the DLCCC on Saturday September 14th to fight world hunger through a partnership between local churches and Feed My Starving Children. Those 500 volunteers packed 101,000 means in just one day.
Each meal pack contains six to twelve servings of food and have three dried, fortified meal formulas. Detroit Lakes packed the MannaPack™ Rice, which consists of vitamin packed flavoring, dried vegetables, soy protein and rice.
With the meals packed, the cost of the food still needs to be covered, which is about $26,127. Donations can be made at give.fmsc/detroitlakes.
Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a Christian nonprofit dedicated to providing nutritious meals to children worldwide. FMSC meals are hand-packed by volunteers and sent to an incredible network of partner organizations who distribute them to those in need. Nearly 1.2 million volunteers packed more than 333 FMSC meals in 2017. More than 90% of total donations go directly to feed kids.
