Detroit Lakes Baseball Splits with Park Rapids

The Laker baseball team split a Mid-State Conference doubleheader against Park Rapids. Beating the Panthers in first game 6-5 and fell in the second game 8-3.
In Game 1 the Lakers won in walk off fashion by posting two runs in the bottom of the 7th. The Lakers were trailing 5-4 going into the bottom of the 7th, when the Lakers were able to load the bases when Blake Itzen connected with a solid drive to left field plating two runners to grab the win
In Game 2, Lund started on the hill and was hampered by walks and Laker errors to fall behind 2-0 in the 1st. With the bases loaded, Lund was replaced by Itzen in the 2nd and control issues led to 5 Panther runs and a 7-0 lead. Blaine Henderson pitched the final 4 1/3 innings in a solid relief effort. The Lakers battled back but fell in defeat 8-3.
With the split, Detroit Lakes is now 4-5 on the season and hosts Aitkin next Tuesday with a 4:00 pm start at Washington Park.
