The Laker tennis team split their triangular on Tuesday between Bemidji and Fergus Falls. In their first matchup the Lumberjacks depth was too much. There were a few matches that were close and went a third set. Laker head coach Zachary Bigger said he was encouraged by that, “we couldn't pull any of those matches out but I was glad to see that they were close without doing dramatic things to our lineup. Knowing we are going to be in the same section as Bemidji next year, shows us that we need to improve our skills if we want to compete at a higher class next year.”

In the Fergus Falls matchup Detroit Lakes picked up a big win. The Lakers and Otters were tied going into the third set tiebreaker at 3 in singles. Senior Sam Spry pulled out the win in the end winning the last 3 points in the 10 point tiebreaker. 8th grader Connor Zamzo and Sophomore Tommy Fritz had their first varsity wins.

Next up, Detroit Lakes will have a match on Friday against Brainerd and Moorhead.
