The Laker boys’ golf team will go into the second day of the Class AA State Golf Tournament in contention for a State Championship. The Lakers were led by Junior Hunter Burnside on day one. Burnside shot a 1-over 73. Burnside had to overcome hitting the ball in the water-hazard on hole 9 to keep his team within striking distance.

The Lakers trail the defending state champion Holy Family Catholic by 9-strokes. The Lakers finished day one with a team score of 317. Holy Family shot the day 1 low score of 310. Other Lakers scores, Lukas Justesen who shot an 80, Jake Green 82, Jack Schramel 82, Daniel Rozsa 83, and Drew Schwan 86.

Detroit Lakes is looking for the fourth State Title in program history and their first since 2012. The Lakers will tee-off tomorrow at 8:15 am Drew Schwann will be the first on the green. Catch hourly updates on KDLM beginning at 9 am.
