Laker Sports Brief 1-21-2019

The Laker Dance teams finished in first place on Saturday at Pelican Rapids. Detroit Lakes had first place finishes in both the High Kick competition and winning again in the Jazz competition. There are only two more competitions left on the schedule. The Lakers will travel to Pequot Lakes on Saturday to take part in the MidState competition. After MidState they will have their Section Meet on Saturday, February 2nd, in Alexandria.
Boys Swimming and Diving
The boys’ swim and dive teams took part in the Section 5A True Team Swim/Dive in Sartell on Saturday. The Lakers finished in 7th place out of 9 teams. Here is what the final standings looked like: Sartell-St. Stephen 1557, Alex 1347, Melrose-Sauk Centre 1195, Fergus Falls 926, Bemidji 804, Park Rapids 672, Detroit Lakes 356, Thief River Falls 325, Morris Area 297. Next up, the Lakers will have a home invite tomorrow when they host Moorhead and Fergus Falls at the DLCCC pool.
The Laker wrestling team won the Thief River Falls Air Force National Guard Prowler Invite on Saturday. The Lakers had 4 finalists and one Champion (Fabyon Greer at 138).

Next up for the Laker wrestlers they will have a varsity quadrangular in Long Prairie tomorrow at 5pm.
The Laker girls’ hockey team suffered their 7th straight loss, losing to River Lakes on Saturday, 7-0. Detroit Lakes could not find their offense and despite 40 saves by sophomore Leah Honer the Lakers couldn’t find a way to stop the potent attack set forth by River Lakes. The Lakers will look to bounce back on the road against Bemidji tomorrow.
