One year after the Pequot Lakes Patriots spoiled Detroit Lakes' homecoming, the Lakers returned the favor with a 47-0 win in Pequot Lakes on Friday night.

Last week's slow start was a distant memory with Detroit Lakes scoring on their opening drive, courtesy of a Reed Mace 15-yard touchdown run. Jake Bettcher intercepted a Cale Wolf pass on Pequot's first drive, which was immediately followed by an Isaiah Thompson 57-yard touchdown run to give the Lakers a 13-0 lead before the fans were even in their seats.

"We started a lot better. We talked about that last week. Every game is going to have it's ups and downs." Josh Omang said in his KDLM post game interview.

Gabe Hanninen scored a one yard touchdown to cap off a 20-point first quarter. The Lakers had 236 yards and three touchdowns in the first quarter alone.

Things slowed down in the second quarter for the Lakers offense. Max Gunderson threw his first interception of the year; a pass that was tipped at the line of scrimmage deep in Lakers territory. The defense held strong and Pequot Lakes missed a 26 yard field goal.

The defense was able to put some points on the board tonight, courtesy of a Bettcher 44-yard pick six; his second interception of the evening to extend the Lakers lead to 27-0 at halftime.

After a pretty quiet third quarter, Reed Mace scored his second touchdown on a 57 yard touchdown run to extend the Lakers lead to 33-0. Gabe Hanninen found the end zone again in the fourth quarter on a 2 yard score. Jackson Rhodes also his first touchdown of the season to extend the lead to 47-0.

The Detroit Lakes defense only allowed 155 yards (83 rushing, 72 passing) to a Pequot Lakes offense that was averaging 33 points per game coming into the game.

Unofficially, the Lakers had 506 yards of total offense. Isaiah Thompson had 16 carries for 207 yards and a touchdown. Reed Mace carried the ball 15 times for 163 yards and two touchdowns. Gabe Hanninen added seven carries for 25 yards and two scores.

Jackson Fields had two carries for 12 yards, as well as a 12 yard reception. Jackson Rhodes had two carries for 17 yards and a score. Colby Olson added two carries for 13 yards, Jake Green had three carries for 20 yards, Garret Nelson had one carry for 4 yards, and Clay Perkins had one carry for six yards.

Max Gunderson was 2/7 passing for 23 yards and an interception. Sully Wood had one catch for 11 yards.

In addition to Bettcher's two takeaways, Jackson Fields recovered a fumble and Gabe Hanninen had an interception.

The Lakers return to Mollberg Field next week for a homecoming match-up against Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton. DGF (3-2) won last year's game in Glyndon 35-21.
