WADENA (KDLM) - The 2nd Annual Meat Festival will take place on Saturday near Wadena.
The festival which begins at noon at 60059 State Hwy 29 in Wadena is a fundraiser for a variety of Lakes Area charities.
Jon Grenier, the event organizer says the event started out as a party for friends, but has grown to much more than that, "we wanted to do something for our friends, so we had an invite only party and we had about 125 people show up. It went over so good, we thought we would do something a bit bigger this year."
The event is open to the public, the food is free, but there will be a suggested free-will donation to help raise funds for the Knob Hill Sportsmans Club, The Wadena Youth Trap League, Wadena and Verndale Food Shelf as well as the Deer Creek Rod & Gun Club.
Drastic Measures will provide a beer garden at the event and Grenier says there will be plenty of food, "We're going to provide a couple hundred pounds of potatoes for homemade french fries, onion blossoms, 350 pounds of pork, coolers of cooler corn, and 200 pounds of cured smoked pork loin."
The event begins at noon, Saturday.
