DETROIT LAKES, MN-A man was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon in an accident involving two snowmobiles in rural Becker County. The Becker County Sheriff says 35-year-old Jeffery Gillespie of Audubon and his 15-year-old son were each operating snowmobiles 2 miles north of Audubon when the father hit a snow embankment and slowed down. The son also hit the embankment, but, the Sheriff Todd Glander says, his vision was obscured due to snow fog and the son landed on top of the father and his snowmobile causing significant injuries. Jeffery Gillespie was taken by Ambulance to Essentia St. Mary’s. His condition is unknown. The Sheriff’s Office along with St. Mary’s EMS, Lake Park Alert and Audubon rescue responded to the 9-1-1 call just before 4:30pm. The incident remains under investigation.
