FERGUS FALLS, MN--Tobacco possession of any kind for people under age 21 is now illegal in Fergus Falls. The Fergus Falls Police Department is warning minors within the city limits of Fergus Falls that it is illegal to purchase, possess or legally use any tobacco products. Referred to as Ordinance 91, the new ordinance went into effect October 4 was adopted in September by the City Council. The city ordinance supersedes the recently adopted T-21 Tobacco Ordinance that Otter Tail County Commissioners passed in 2018, that took effect in January this year. In the county ordinance, grandfathered sales were allowed to person’s ages 18, 19 and 20. However, in this case, the county ordinance does not apply within the city limits of Fergus Falls.
