Strong storms moved through the area early this morning, toppling trees and snapping power lines causing multiple power outages. Fergus Falls city crews were able to quickly clear trees that were blocking roads in the southern portion of city.
Sargent Kevin Sonstebo with the Fergus Falls Police Department said, “As the storm moved through town this morning we ended up with some high winds anywhere from 72 about 83 miles an hour recorded out at the airport. We've got several areas in town in the south end that have trees down and a couple power lines down. City crews are working right now and law enforcement is continuing to do assessments of the local neighborhoods to see what other damages are might be.”
Power crews were also busy this morning with Otter Tail Power Company reporting 2,294 of their customers were without power in the area between Herman and Perham. Plus Lake Region Electric Cooperative was reporting over 4,681 of their customers were without power in the county.
