Elderly Grand Forks Woman Identified as Driver Involved in Car-Train Crash

GRAND FORKS, ND--Grand Forks police have identified the driver involved in a car-train crash Sunday morning. Authorities say 87-year old Theresa Knutson of Grand Forks was transported to Altru Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The accident occurred near the intersection of North 42nd and DeMers Avenue just before 11:00am.
The B-N-S-F train was traveling east around 10 m-p-h on the north set of tracks when it made contact with Knutson’s vehicle. Knutson’s vehicle was pushed off the roadway and onto B-N-S-F property east of North 42nd Street. Police say Knutson was cited for Failure to Obey Railroad Crossing.
There were no reported injuries or damages from BNSF staff.
