Gary Man Sentenced To Seven Years for Drug Conviction

DETROIT LAKES, MN--A Gary man is sentenced in Becker County Court to just over 7 years in prison for drug possession. Thirty-two-year-old Nathan Hemmingson was arrested in July of 2018 after being pulled over by a Minnesota Trooper for a traffic stop. The trooper learned from other law enforcement that Hemmingson was known to smuggle illegal drugs from the Twin Cities to the area. A State Patrol K-9 was used to search the vehicle and alerted to illegal drugs. 100 grams of marijuana and 100 grams of meth were found in Hemmingson's vehicle. Hemmingson had a prior drug conviction from 2009. He was sentenced Wednesday (11/27) to 85 months in state prison with credit for 150 days served.
