SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Wednesday, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is expected to announce new restrictions on restaurants, bars, social gatherings, gyms, fitness centers, and youth sports which will affect both fall playoffs and winter sports.
Walz said if the state doesn’t get a handle on the outbreak, there’s not going to be a choice of keeping youth sports open. He said there’s won’t be any coaches to coach and there will be more kids in the hospital. Walz says it’s inevitable with the spread of the virus.
It was just last week Walz issued new restrictions on earlier closing times at bars and restaurants and new capacity limits for some gatherings.
There were another 5,945 new COVID cases and 26 deaths announced yesterday by the state health department. That brought the total number of pandemic cases to 236,949 and 2,943 deaths.
KDLM and The Lakes Area Radio App will carry the address live at 6 p.m.
