LAKE PARK, MN--Lake Park Fire Department was on scene of a grain bin fire for nearly 12 hours Thursday into early Friday morning. Lake Park Fire Chief Dave Coufal says crews were called to the scene off Becker County Highway 14 just before 2:00 pm Thursday and from there it became quite a mess as the fire started from something inside the bin and it had to be unloaded.

Coufal says the bin was loaded with 20-thousand bushels of corn and it was a long, slow process that lasted all afternoon through the evening until around 1:30 am this (FRiday) morning. Crews were on the scene this morning sucking out the remaining 5-thousand bushels and cleaning up the site. No one was injured. The Lake Park Fire Department had assistance from the Hitterdahl Fire Department.
