DENT (KDLM) - Hundreds of people are expected to turn out for a "Caravan of Patriots" on Sunday in the Lakes Area.
Event Organizer, Eric Hanson says the event was created to 'wake up the silent majority', "The purpose is to create enthusiasm within the conservative base and enthusiasm will generate votes."
Hanson expects a couple hundred vehicles decorated in American and Trump Flags to join the caravan that will leave from Dent, MN at 1pm and travel through Lakes Area communities including Pelican Rapids, Fergus Falls, Battle Lake, Perham and Detroit Lakes before returning to Dent around 5pm.
Michelle Fischbach who is running to unseat Collin Peterson in District 7 has taken notice of the event and has committed to host a meet and greet at noon before the caravan leaves.
Hanson says the conservative party can no longer sit back and watch, "I view the conservative side as people that work hard, play hard – they're busy people and they may not all show their patriotism by signs and things like that. It's time to speak up and speak out and let our choices be heard and known."
The caravan expects to roll through Detroit Lakes along the beach around 2pm on Sunday.
