DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) - If State mandated social distancing and indoor capacity guidelines continue through the Winter months, Detroit Mountain Recreation Area will find themselves in a bit of a bind.

The Mountain fully expects to be open for skiing and tubing this winter, however their Lodge can be a tight space in the winter, "anyone who's been there knows it's wall to wall people in the Lodge, eating, changing, getting skis," said Kelcey Klemm during a recent Detroit Lakes Finance Committee Meeting.

The Mountain is proposing to purchase some large tents with portable heaters. The tents would allow for additional seating areas at the Mountain. The cost to the City, which has not yet been approved to purchase the tents and heaters would be a little over $30,000.
