Detroit Lakes Diver Advances to State Finals

MINNEAPOLIS, MN—Detroit Lakes Lakers Diver Jackson Hegg advances to finals at the State Class A Swim and Dive meet at the U of M. Jackson was among 32 divers vying at prelims for the top 16 places. After her first five dives, Jackson was in 7th place as the first cut to 20 divers was made. Jackson finished 12th after semifinals, 8 dives, and will perform her final three dives during Saturday’s finals meet.
Swimming prelims are Friday. The Lakers have seven swimmers participating in nine events: 200 medley relay (Lucy Steinke, Madi Gerdes, Jen Tracy, Evan Westrum), Kaitlyn Peterson in the 200 and 500 Freestyle events, Jen Tracy in the 200 IM and 100 Butterfly, Evan Westrum in the 100 Butterfly, 200 Freestyle Relay (Steinke, Westurm, Chelsy Johnson, Peterson), Steinke in the 100 Backstroke, Madi Gerdes in the 100 Breaststroke and 400 Freestyle Relay of Tracy, Faith Hamm, Johnson, Peterson.
Swimming prelims begin at Noon Friday. Finals on Saturday also begin at Noon.
