UNDATED--The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is honoring fallen transportation workers on this Worker Memorial Day, April 29th. "It's an opportunity to certainly honor those folks who have lost their lives," says MnDOT Spokeswoman Anne Meyer. "It's a good reminder for everyone to just be safe on the job and hopefully encourage motorists to do some things as well as to keep our work zones safe out there."
Meyer says motorists need to stay alert. She says work zones constantly change with lane shifts, closures, and moving workers and vehicles.
Since 1960, 35 MnDOT workers and 15 contractors have lost their lives while working on Minnesota highways.
