Otter Tail County Man Taken to Hospital After Firework Explodes in His Face

OTTER TAIL COUNTY (KDLM) - At least one fireworks accident was reported in Otter Tail County during the 4th of July Holiday.
Around 11pm on July 4, Otter Tail County Sheriff's office received a report of a fireworks accident in rural Parkers Prairie. A male from Henning in his mid twenty's was attempting to lite a firework which exploded in his face.
The man was transported by Parkers Prairie Ambulance to Alomere Health for non-life threatening injuries.
Parkers Prairie Police Department, Parkers Ambulance Service and the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office responded to the call.
On average, more than 45,000 people visit U.S. hospital emergency rooms for treatment of injuries on July 4 and 5 – nearly 91,000 in total, by far the highest daily numbers in the entire year.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), there were an estimated 9,100 fireworks-related injuries treated in U.S. emergency rooms in 2018.
