DETROIT LAKES (KDLM) - Cold temperatures have swept through the Lakes Area.
The National Weather Service issued their first freeze watch on Tuesday that continues through Wednesday.
Temperatures have plummeted in the evening hours and the National Weather Service says many Lakes Area communities will come close to breaking records for the minimum high temperature. For example, Wednesdays forecasted high in Park Rapids is 51 degrees which would beat the record low high of 52 set in 1911.
The cold temperatures are also hard on plants. Now is the time to take precautions and shelter any plants and outside vegetation says the National Weather Service.
