ST PAUL (MNN) - The Minnesota Senate passed a bill on a 60-0 vote on Thursday providing expanded disaster recovery loans to farmers impacted by this winter's heavy snow.
Senator Michael Goggin of Red Wing says it's been a tough winter for our rural agricultural community, we've had a tremendous amount of snow fall in the month February." He says to make matters worse "the economy for the ag folks is not real good right now."
Goggin says roofs of barns and farm buildings statewide have been collapsing under the weight of snow and sleet. The bill provides low-interest loans to farmers in need.
