DETROIT LAKES, MN--August sees the most rain yet in 2019, locally. The month's weather statistics compiled by Leighton Broadcasting in Detroit Lakes show 11 days of precipitation in August, three of those days we recorded over an inch of rain. The most rain fell on August 13th when we recorded 1.23" at the Leighton Broadcasting studios. The total rainfall for August was 5.71". Last year, 2018, we had 2.75". In 2017, we recorded 4.19" in August.
The average daily high temperature was 74-degrees, which was the lowest compared to the last three years: 77-degrees in August 2018; 75-degrees in 2017; 79-degrees in 2016. The warmest daytime high temp was 84-degrees on August 2nd. The coolest high temp was 61-degrees recorded on August 28th. The average overnight low temperature was 60-degrees. The coolest overnight low was 41-degrees recorded on August 30th. The warmest overnight low was 66-degrees recorded on August 4th.
