Warmer Temps Recorded in December 2018

DETROIT LAKES, MN--Despite the last few days of frigid overnight temps, December 2018 saw a much warmer daytime average temperature than 2017. Statistics compiled by Leighton Broadcasting Detroit Lakes show the daytime average temperature for the last month of the year was 28-degrees compared to last year's average was of 19 degrees. The warmest daytime high for December was 45 degrees on December 16th. The coldest daytime high was 6 degrees on the 29th. The average overnight low was 12 degrees. The coldest overnight low was -18 degrees on December 29th and the warmest overnight low was 29 degrees on December 1st. We had 10 days of precipitation and 13.1 inches of snow. Melted down that's 81--hundredths of an inch of moisture. The most snow, six inches, was recorded on December 28th.
The total snowfall for the 2018 winter (October through December) is 21.2 inches. The year-end precipitation total for 2018 is 63.9-inches.
